Ways to Improve Your IMU Performance

Despite massive performance improvements, MEMS IMUs still have unique characteristics users should be aware of. By accounting for these in your system and following good IMU data practices, you can be assured the best performance for your application.

Powering Drones with Improved Mobile Mapping Systems

Have you ever wondered how we are able to have an accurate online map to use to get to anywhere we want to go? The answer lies in a process called mobile mapping. Mobile mapping allows users to visualize, record and understand environments, wherever they may be.

High Performance Inertial Sensors for Robotic Systems

The next generation of robotic systems require high performance inertial sensors but also demand high volume, low cost solutions.

Benefits of a Tactical Grade IMU in Low-cost GNSS/INS Systems

When determining which system is right for your application, it can be difficult to visualize the impact of IMU selection on total system performance. Our goal in this paper is to show how the quality of the IMU affects the end-use system via several real-world tests.

Better Data equals Better Navigation

To achieve navigation accuracy, sensors use algorithms that look at a series of measurements (as opposed to a single measurement) and generate output numbers that compensate for measurement errors. These algorithms are known as sensor fusion algorithms or Kalman filtering.

Inertial Navigation Solution in Delivery Robots & Drones

Our focus was to provide a solution that offers ease of use and eliminate the customer’s need to outsource components and programming. The integration of our MSCL, ROS, and several Open-Source API’s, allows for the application of available and compatible software.

3DMGQ7-GNSS/INS Dynamic Performance Test Report

GNSS and INS performance accuracy is generally tested in an ideal static environment, and often not representative of end use performance. Dynamic environments introduce error sources such as multipath, obscured sky view, vibration, inconsistent RTK data streams and more.

The Drive for Reliable Data: Using Real-World Inputs to Test MicroStrain Inertial Sensors

Inertial measurement units (IMUs) are essential tools for manufacturers of off-road heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. They provide critical information that is used to control, monitor and manage the equipment, but also to ensure operator safety during use.

How COVID-19 is Accelerating Robot and Drone Technology for use in Everyday Activities

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced changes to our daily lives, but when it comes to technology, not all changes have been unwelcomed. In many ways, shifting the way we live has accelerated the use of technology to a level that we were only beginning to dip our toes into.

Business Perspectives and the Impacts of COVID-19 - Q&A with Parker LORD

Justin R. Bessette, Manager of Technology at Parker LORD, Microstrain shares with us his thoughts on how Parker LORD is managing through the pandemic as well as insights into what the future of Robotics and Automation may be.

Choosing the Right Inertial Sensor for your Robot

The latest generation inclinometers provide much more stable performance and higher accuracy.

The use of Inertial Sensors in Robotics

The primary uses for inertial sensors are platform stability and global positioning, but we are seeing increasing use as feedback in articulated limbs.
