Digital manufacturing starts with HEIDENHAIN. We will be showing software solutions that allows you to model your entire production chain, thus digitalizing your shop floor.

HEIDENHAIN at IMTS 2022

Q&A with | HEIDENHAIN

Tell us about your company.

HEIDENHAIN develops and manufactures linear and angle encoders, rotary encoders, digital readouts, length gauges and numerical controls for demanding positioning tasks. HEIDENHAIN products are used primarily in high-precision machine tools as well as in plants for the production and processing of electronic components. We also address general automation applications from robotics to elevator systems for speed and position.

Your company will be exhibiting at IMTS, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

Machine tools and manufacturing machines is one of our core markets. We offer the industry-leading 5-axis control and will be featuring our new CNC called the TNC7. You will see our latest technology in closed loop control, linear and angle encoders.

What makes your booth a must visit for IMTS Attendees?

Digital manufacturing starts with HEIDENHAIN. We will be showing software solutions that allows you to model your entire production chain, thus digitalizing your shop floor.

IMTS has many educational sessions, forums & Demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

Yes of course! You will find us in the Student Summit, booth # 215600. And, Mr. Gisbert Ledvon will be speaking on “Automation and monitoring as a subsequent technology to optimize machine utilization” on Wednesday, September 14 at 1:15PM in the West Building room W-193-B.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions, pavilions etc. you plan on attending?

That’s a great question. I’ve always been fascinated with metal cutting machines. They keep getting faster and more accurate. I broke into the industry in the late 70’s and remember my first experience with a point to point CNC. I thought to myself, what’s next? Little did I know!

The factory floor is undertaking rapid advancements, be it automation, robotics, machine vision or data.  Automation Technology is a huge part for many manufacturers, give us an idea on how your company and product is being utilized now in the smart factory.

Digitally network your shop floor. The software solutions from HEIDENHAIN model your entire production chain, thus digitalizing your shop floor. You won’t need Cloud computing or be tied to a specific machine manufacturer or type of control. With Connected Machining, HEIDENHAIN offers individualized solutions for fully digitalized job management within your production environment, encompassing the machine, engineering office and production planning. Efficiently optimize your manufacturing environment with production analysis and Digital Shop Floor consulting from HEIDENHAIN. Our training courses and webinars will keep you informed, and our support team is ready to answer your questions.

Give us your thoughts on what the future holds for manufacturers and automation technology.

The future of manufacturing and automation technology is only limited by our imagination! We must get our children interested and excited about manufacturing technology. This is one of the goals at HEIDENHAIN. If we can accomplish this, no telling where we will be 10-years from now.

Schmalz Technology Development - The Right Gripper for Every Task

In order to interact with their environment and perform the tasks, lightweight robots, like all industrial robots, depend on tools - and in many cases these are vacuum grippers. These form the interface to the workpiece and are therefore a decisive part of the overall system. With their help, the robots can pick up, move, position, process, sort, stack and deposit a wide variety of goods and components. Vacuum gripping systems allow particularly gentle handling of workpieces, a compact and space-saving system design and gripping from above. Precisely because the object does not have to be gripped, the vacuum suction cupenables gapless positioning next to each other.
